STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our Denomination

The Joy of Life Ministries, Inc. was created as an independent Pentecostal ministry from 1997 until 2000. The doctrinal foundation has always been based upon similar ideals of the Church of God in Christ. The Church of God in Christ is one of the largest African American Denominations in the United States of America. It is an international organization with headquarters located in Memphis, Tennessee. The current national leader of the entire COGIC organization is Bishop Charles E. Blake.

In 2000 Pastor Butler was led to present to the board of directors and the membership, the motion to become an affiliate member of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) under the leadership of the Omaha Nebraska Jurisdiction. Because Joy of Life Ministries, Inc. is an incorporated body, annual ratification of our affiliation is determined by a vote of JOL members in good standing.

Currently our jurisdictional prelate is Bishop John O. Ford and our State Supervisor of Women is Mother Martha A. Parker-Love. We are part of the C.H. Mason District within the Nebraska Jurisdiction. Pastor Eric Butler is the Auxiliary Bishop.

Our Statement of Faith

We Believe...

The Holy Bible to be the inspired and only infallible word of God.

We Believe...

That there is One God, eternally existent in Three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We Believe...

in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.

We Believe...

That the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance, faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ, and being regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

We Believe...

That Water Baptism is symbolic of the Believer’s regeneration and purification, and testifies to the Believer’s death, burial and resurrection (or new Birth) in Jesus Christ.

We Believe...

In the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost), with the sign and seal of speaking in tongues, as recorded in Acts 2:4 and other scriptures.

We Believe...

In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by who’s indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in this present world.

We Believe...

That in general, governments are God-given institution for the benefit of mankind, and we admonish and exhort our members to honor, respect, and obey them. But, as God fearing, peace-loving and law-abiding people, we stand firmly on our inheritance as Americans, namely, “To Worship God according To Our Consciences. And, if there is a conflict between God’s Law and Man’s Law, WE must obey God rather than man.”
